Swaziland Incwala Public Holiday Clarification

Swaziland's Chief Commercial Officer in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Magenious Hlophe, has clarified the rules for shop openings on the occasion of the upcoming Incwala (aka. First Fruits) non-working public holiday.

Due to the complex nature of the rule used to specify the date of the Incwala main day, and its related public holiday, the Incwala public holiday sometimes occurs twice in a year (2010-12-21, 2010-01-02, 2007-12-26, and 2007-01-04 and will happen again in 2015). On the other hand some years it does not occur at all, as was the case in 2006 and 2009 and will be the case in 2014.

The expected date for the 2013 Incwala (aka. First Fruits) non-working public holiday in Swaziland is Friday, December 20, 2013.
