The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, has issued a decree "On Celebrating the Ramazan Hayit Holiday" which declares Friday, August 9, 2013, as the non-working day off public holiday for the upcoming Ramazan Hayit (End of Ramadan).
As per the aforementioned decree, "Taking into account the Uzbek Board of Muslims' decision, August 9, 2013 is declared as a day off and will be widely celebrated as a holiday in the country".
Last year (2012-08-17), President Karimov had signed a resolution which declared Monday, August 20, 2012, as an additional non-working day off public holiday, due to the first day of the Ramadan Hayit of 2012 falling on a Sunday and "to celebrate the Hayit properly".
