After axing the National Holiday Office (NHS), created in 2000, and tasked with the determination of China's annual non-working public holidays schedule, last summer, and a lot of hesitation, China's General Office of the State Council has finally released the official list of China's annual non-working public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2015.

After conducting online polls (2013-11-27 and 2013-10-12) the option finally chosen by China's General Office of the State Council for the official 2014 non-working public holidays in China (2013-12-11) moved the start of the Spring Festival Golden Week from the Lunar New Year Eve to Lunar New Year Day.

The aforementioned announcement of the official 2015 non-working public holidays in China ("Circular on the Arrangement of Certain Holidays in 2015 (guobanfamingdian [2014] No.28)"), thus follows a year of recriminations by citizens on the web, the axing the National Holiday Office (NHS), created in 2000, and tasked with the determination of China's annual non-working public holidays schedule (2014-09-17), and rumours that the Golden Weeks system was coming to an end (2014-09-21).
