The Office of Communication of the Presidency of Haiti has announced that Haiti's President had issued an Executive Order declaring Monday and Tuesday, July 28-29, 2014, as additional one-off non-working public holidays to coincide with the upcoming Carnaval des Fleurs 2014.
As per the aforementioned Executive Order, the public holiday of Monday, July 28, 2014, will begin at 12:00 noon, while the public holiday of Tuesday, July 29, 2014, will be a full-day non-working public holiday for all sectors of the Haitian economy (Sont déclarées fériées et chômées aux fins des festivités du Carnaval des Fleurs: 1. La journée du lundi 28 Juillet 2014, à partir de midi ; 2. La journée du mardi 29 Juillet 2014 dans son intégralité.).
When the Carnaval des Fleurs was revived 2 years ago (25-Jul-2012), we wondered if this new Carnival was meant to replace the traditional one early in the year (15-Feb-2012), but since then February Carnival public holidays were declared every year (03-Feb-2013).
