The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a proclamation declaring Saturday, July 26, 2014, as a national non-working public holiday in Liberia to be observed across the country on account of Liberia's 167th Independence Day.
The Independence Day was set aside as an annual non-working public holiday by the Patriotic Observance Law of 1956, but such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar (2014-04-10, 2013-05-13, 2013-04-05, 2013-03-13, 2012-11-27, 2012-10-31, 2012-07-23, 2011-11-01, 2011-04-06, 2010-11-03, 2010-07-23 and 2010-04-08).
