The Government of Mali, via its Labour Minister, Bocar Moussa Diarra, has declared Friday, January 2, 2015, as a non-working public holiday in Mali ("journée déclarée chomée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national").

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, January 2, 2015, as a non-working public holiday in Mali ("journée déclarée chomée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national") is to commemorate the Maouloud (Prophet's Birthday).
