Nigeria's Federal Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has announced that Tuesday, January 14, 2014, had been declared an official non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria to commemorate the annual Muslim celebration of Eid-El-Maulud (Prophet Muhammad's Birthday).
As was the case last year (2013-01-19), but contrary to what happened the year before (2012-02-02), an additional one-off day in lieu public holiday did not need to be declared as the upcoming public holiday for the Id-el-Maoulud (Prophet's Birthday) does not fall on a weekend in 2014.
