Omani authorities have announced the dates of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in Oman for the Prophet's Birthday, for both the private sector and the public sector of Oman.
In a decision by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al-Busaidi, Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Omani ministries, public authorities and other units of the state administrative apparatus will remain closed for a non-working public sector holiday on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, on account of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday.
In a separate communique, Oman's Minister of Manpower, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nassir al-Bakri, issued a ministerial decision stopping work for a public holiday at private sector companies and establishments, also on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
Contrary to what happened last year (2013-01-23), the non-working public holiday in Oman for the Prophet's Birthday in Oman was not moved to adjoin a nearby weekend, which since last May (2013-04-06) is Friday-Saturday, for both the public as well as the private sector of Oman.
