Oman's minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, has announced a non-working public holiday for the employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the State's administrative apparatus, on the occasion of the upcoming annual Hijri New Year 1436 non-working public holiday in Oman.

In a separate announcement, Oman's Minister of Manpower, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Bakri, announced that the 1st of Muharram 1436 AH will be an official holiday for employees at the private sector's companies and establishments.

The Hijri New Year 1436 is set to occur on Saturday, October 25, 2014, but as this date falls on one of the newly-changed (2013-04-06) weekly days off in Oman, the aforementioned announcement specifies a public holiday for Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Oman.
