Philippines' Deputy presidential spokesperson, Abigail Valte, has announced that President Benigno Aquino III had ruled-out the declaration of a bridge non-working public holiday on Monday, July 28, 2014, on account of President Aquino's fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Following the recent declaration (2014-07-14) of Tuesday, July 29, 2014, as the date of the upcoming Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday in the Philippines (Proclamation No. 826, s. 2014), many people had wondered if Monday, July 28, 2014, would be declared as a non-working public holiday in the Philippines, to bridge the Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday with the preceding weekend.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Valte has often had to quash rumours of impending one-off public holidays (2014-06-08, 2014-02-24, 2013-10-23, 2013-02-24, 2012-09-30, 2012-07-12 and 2012-06-03).
