Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has released the official list of non-working public holidays in Singapore for the upcoming calendar year 2015 which, for once, does not include an error in the date of the 2015 Deepavali public holiday in Singapore.
As usual, and in particular since the 2009 Deepavali fiasco (2009-02-10 and 2008-02-25), and the 2014 and 2013 errors in the announced date of the 2014 and 2013 Deepavali public holidays in Singapore (2014-04-07, 2013-04-09 and 2012-04-09), the MOM site points out that "Tentatively, Deepavali will fall on 10 November 2015. As with previous years, the Deepavali date on 10 November 2015 may be subject to change and will need to be reconfirmed when the Hindu Almanac is available in the first half of 2015.".
Apparently, despite being repeatedly shunned by the HEB in our offers to help them make better estimates of the date of the Deepavali public holiday in Singapore, they have abandoned the model they previously used (2013-04-09, 2009-02-10, 2008-03-27, 2008-02-25, 2003-04-11, and 2002-03-04), and have chosen the date we have been forecasting for the 2015 Deepavali public holiday in Singapore.
