Sri Lankan 2015 Poya Public Holidays Announced

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs has published in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" (No. 1856/38 - THURSDAY, APRIL 03, 2014), its annual official list of the 12/13 Sri Lankan Poya Day public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2015.

As usual (2013-04-12 and 2012-04-24), the aforementioned announcement of Sri Lankan Poya Day public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2015 will be completed at a later date by the announcement of non-working public holidays in Sri Lanka (2013-07-05) and, at a yet later date, by the announcement of the list of bank holidays in Sri Lanka (2013-10-18) for the coming year.

As per the Holidays Act, Section 2., Declaration regarding Full Moon Poya Days and Sundays, (Volume IV - Laws of Sri Lanka) "It is hereby declared that every Full Moon Poya Day and every Sunday - (a) shall be a public holiday; and (b) shall be a Bank holiday".
