US Virgin Islands Government House has released a statement informing the population that Tuesday, November 18, 2014, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in the US Virgin Islands due to the need to, once again, hold a run-off gubernatorial election, this time between Donna Christensen and Kenneth Mapp.

Almost a decade ago (2006-11-09), then outgoing Governor of the US Virgin Islands, Charles W. Turnbull, had similarly declared Tuesday, November 21, 2006, as a one-off non-working public holiday in the US Virgin Islands due to the need to hold a run-off gubernatorial election between Kenneth Mapp and John P. de Jongh. Jr.
