The Venezuelan regulatory body for the banking sector, Sudeban (Superintendencia de Instituciones del Sector Bancario) has issued the Circular N° SIB-DSB-CJ-05566 announcing that Thursday, February 27, and Friday, February 28, 2014, would also be additional bank holidays in Venezuela.
The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, February 27, and Friday, February 28, 2014, as bank holidays in Venezuela ("la Superintendencia de las Instituciones del Sector Bancario, informa a todas las instituciones bancarias que los días jueves 27 y viernes 28 de febrero de 2014 no son laborables para la banca"), follows the earlier Decreto N° 802 (2014-02-26 and 2014-02-24), gazetted in the Gaceta Oficial 40.363, whereby the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, decreed 2 one-off non-working public holidays in Venezuela, on Thursday, February 27, and Friday, February 28, 2014, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Caracazo massacre.
