The Algerian public sector ministry (Direction Générale de la Fonction Publique) announced that Thursday, December 24, 2015, had been declared as a non-working public sector holiday in Algeria ("La journée du jeudi 24 décembre 2015, coïncidant avec la fête du Mawlid Ennabawi, sera chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques") on account of the annual "Mawlid Ennabawi" (Prophet's Birthday) non-working public holiday of Algeria.
In 2015, the Milad Al Nabi (Prophet's Birthday) will have occurred twice, once already in early January (2014-12-29).
The announcement that Thursday, December 24, 2015, had been declared as a non-working public sector holiday in Algeria, must be taken in conjunction with the fact that, 6 years ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to the "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
