The Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, has issued a circular decreeing that the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in Jordan for Prophet Mohammad's Birthday had been moved from Rabi' al Awwal 12 to Rabi' al Awwal 13, 1436AH (ie. from Wednesday, December 23, to Thursday, December 24, 2015).
The aforementioned announcement of Thursday, December 24, 2015, as the date of the upcoming annual Prophet Mohammad's birthday non-working public holiday in Jordan, represents an amendment to the list of official non-working 2015 public holidays in Jordan, as released late last year (2014-12-21).
Last year (2014-01-07), Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, had similarly moved the 2014 non-working public holiday in Jordan for Prophet Mohammad's Birthday from Monday, January 13, to Sunday, January 12, 2014.
More generally, the Jordanian government often (2013-10-31, 2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25), though not always (2014-10-20), moves mid-week public holidays to the nearest weekend, in particular the Labour Day non-working public holiday in Jordan, and the Hijri New Year Jordanian public holiday, to adjoin a nearby weekend.
