The Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Selangor, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, has declared that Monday, December 14, 2015, would be a one-off additional non-working public holiday in the State of Selangor, to celebrate tonight's winning by Selangor's football team of this year's Malaysia Cup against the Malaysian State of Kedah.
As per the aforementioned announcement, the decision by the Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Selangor, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, to declare Monday, December 14, 2015, as a one-off additional non-working public holiday in the State of Selangor, was first referred to the Selangor state secretary, Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, before Selangor's Sultan Sharafuddin gave his royal blessing.
Interestingly, this morning (2015-12-12), the Chief Minister of the other Malaysia Cup finalist, Malaysia's State of Kedah, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, had promised to declare tomorrow, Sunday, December 13, 2015, as a one-off non-working public holiday in the Malaysian state of Kedah, if the Kedah team won that same championship.
Malaysian states often declare one-off non-working public holidays on account of football victories (2015-12-12, 2015-10-31, 2015-05-19, 2014-11-02, 2013-11-01, 2013-10-30, 2013-06-13, 2012-10-15, 2012-07-18, 2012-05-14, 2011-11-21, 2011-06-13, 2011-06-11, 2010-12-30, 2010-12-29, 2010-10-30, 2009-11-04,...), in particular the Malaysian states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor (2013-11-23), where the day after most important matches, Sunday, is a regular working day.
