The Office of the President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has not yet issued a press communique indicating that, in line with past practice, though not last year's, Monday, March 2, 2015, would be declared a one-off public holiday in the Maldives to coincide with the year's first sitting of the People's Majlis.

During 5 years (2013-02-25, 2012-02-22, 2011-02-22, 2010-02-22 and 2009-03-02), but not last year (2014-02-28), both former and present Maldives' Presidents had declared one-off non-working public holidays on the date of the first sitting of the People's Majlis of the year, although that date had not been included in the list of official public holidays in the Maldives for that same year (2014-01-08, 2013-01-07, 2012-01-06, 2011-01-04, 2010-01-05, and 2009-01-06).
