Mozambique's Ministry of Labour (Ministério do Trabalho, Emprego e Segurança Social - MITESS) has announced its traditional year-end one-off public sector holidays in Mozambique, beginning at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, December 31, 2015, "to allow civil servants to prepare the year-end holidays in a dignified manner".
As per the aforementioned announcement, and as per custom (2014-12-22, 2013-12-21 and 2012-12-21), the upcoming one-off non-working public holiday in Mozambique "does not extend to workers whose nature of work does not allow for interruption and where a disruption would negatively affect the public interest".
The declaration of one-off non-working public holidays is a relatively common feature of Mozambique's official public holidays calendar (2015-01-14, 2013-12-21, 2013-08-01, 2012-12-21, 2011-12-05, 2011-10-16, 2010-12-29, 2010-12-23,...), in particular as Mozambique's Labour Code gives the Minister of Labour the authority to declare one-off public holidays in Mozambique.
