Nicaraguan August 2015 Public Holidays

Nicaragua's Ministry of Labour (MITRAB) has issued a communiqué announcing Saturday, August 1, and Monday, August 10, 2015, as the dates of the upcoming annual fully-paid non-working public holidays in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua ("los días 1 y 10 de agosto del año en curso serán dados de asueto para los trabajadores de la ciudad de Managua") for the upcoming annual Santo Domingo de Guzmán festivities.

As was done in the past (2014-07-31, 2012-07-30, 2011-07-27 and 2009-07-30), the MITRAB communiqué confirms that the August 1 and 10 annual public holidays are limited, geographically, to the city of Managua (the capital of Nicaragua), rather than the similarly-named, much larger Departamento de Managua ("asueto remunerado para todos los que laboran exclusivamente en el municipio de Managua"), and that no compensation day is given for these municipal non-working public holidays even if they fall on a weekend day ("los días 1 y 10 de agosto no gozan de este privilegio por ser días de asueto celebrados únicamente a nivel municipal, por lo que los trabajadores deben incorporarse a sus labores el día lunes 3 y martes 11 de Agosto del año en curso respectivamente").
