The Nigerian Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, in a statement by the Ministry of Interior, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Friday and Monday, July 17 and 20, 2015, as the non-working public holidays throughout Nigeria for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri (End of Ramadan).

As happened in previous years (2014-07-23, 2013-08-05, 2012-08-13, 2009-09-18 and 2008-09-25), though not systematically (2011-08-24 and 2010-09-03), the Nigerian Government moved the End of Ramadan public holidays to adjoin a nearby weekend, and seems to have definitely abandoned its past practice of following the Libyan Muslim calendar (2007-09-14).
