Philippines President, Benigno Aquino III, has signed Proclamation No. 1070, s. 2015, which declares Friday, July 17, 2015, as the date of the upcoming Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday in the Philippines for the calendar year 2015.
As per the aforementioned proclamation, Friday, July 17, 2015, as the date of the upcoming Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday in the Philippines, "to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Islamic celebration to the fore of national consciousness".
Last summer (2014-07-23), President Aquino had signed the Proclamation No. 831, s. 2014 which lists the special and regular public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2015, and includes a slot to be filled-in for the Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday added to the list of Philippines public holidays a decade ago (2002-01-23).
Contrary to last year's announcement of Tuesday, July 29, 2014, as the date of the 2014 Eid'l Fitr annual non-working public holiday in the Philippines (2014-07-14), we do not expect this year's announced date to generate flak from the Muslim Community as it did last year (2014-07-17).
