A spokesman for Uganda's Ministry of Public Service, has announced that the government of Uganda had declared Friday, July 17, 2015, as the date of the upcoming Eid-El-Fitri non-working public holiday in Uganda.

The aforementioned announcement follows an earlier announcement tonight by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Director of Sharia Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu, that the Shawwal Moon has been sighted in Uganda and therefore that Friday, July 17, 2015, would be the Eid Al Fitr in Uganda.

This date follows the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, which Ugandan public holidays sometimes follow (02-Oct-2014, 04-Oct-2013, 18-Oct-2012 and 24-Nov-2009), but not systematically (06-Dec-2008).
