Argentina's Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Santos, has announced that Argentina's President, Mauricio Macri, had declared Friday, July 8, 2016, as a one-off bridge non-working public holiday in Argentina, to extend the upcoming, July 9, Día de la Independencia public holiday of Argentina into a 3-day weekend.

The aforementioned announcement that Argentina's President, Mauricio Macri, had declared Friday, July 8, 2016, as a one-off bridge non-working public holiday in Argentina, is in line with last autumn's ("Feriados Nacionales y Puentes Turísticos 2016") announcement by Argentina's Ministry of the Interior (2015-10-30), and which included the list of bridge public holidays ("feriados con fines turísticos"), in Argentina for the upcoming calendar year 2016.

The various annual announcements, such as the ("Feriados Nacionales y Puentes Turísticos 2016") and others (2014-11-15, 2013-10-16 and 2012-11-12), are themselves in line with the 2010 decree, published in the Boletín Oficial (Número 32.020, Año CXVIII), implementing a major public holidays revision (2010-11-03) and the Decreto 1768/2013 which lists the one-off non-working bridge public holidays ("feriados con fines turísticos") for the calendar years 2014, 2015 and 2016 (2013-11-12).
