Benin March 4 Public Holiday Canceled

Earlier tonight, the government of Benin issued a television statement infirming the previous announcement that Friday, March 4, 2016, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Bénin on account of the upcoming Presidential elections that will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

As per the aforementioned communiqué infirming the previous announcement that Friday, March 4, 2016, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Bénin: "Contrairement au communique qui passait et qui fait etat de ce que la journée du vendredi 4 mars 2016 est chômée, le gouvernement porte à la connaissance de tous les travailleurs du secteur public que du secteur privé qu'aucune décision n'a été prise dans ce sens. En conséquence tous les travailleurs sont invités à se rendre régulièrement à à leur poste ce vendredi 4 mars conformément à la pratique en vigueur".

Recall that, yesterday (2016-03-02), the government of Benin, through its "ministre du travail et de la fonction publique", Aboubacar Yaya, had declared Friday, March 4, 2016, as a non-working public holiday in Bénin ("la journée du vendredi 04 Mars 2016 est déclarée chomée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national") on account of the upcoming Presidential elections that will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016, and in addition to the previously-announced list of annual non-working public holidays in the Benin for the calendar year 2016, as announced by the government of Benin, earlier this year (2016-02-24).
