The government of Benin has declared Wednesday, April 6, 2016, as a non-working public holiday in Bénin ("Le gouvernement déclare la journée du 06 avril chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire National") on account of the upcoming presidential inauguration of president-elect, Patrice Talon, that will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

The aforementioned declaration of Wednesday, April 6, 2016, as a non-working public holiday in Bénin on account of the upcoming presidential inauguration of president-elect, Patrice Talon ("Pour permettre aux populations en général et aux travailleurs en particulier de prendre part massivement aux cérémonies d'investiture du nouveau président de la république et dans le soucis de donner cachet spécial à la manifestion, Le gouvernement déclare la journée du 06 avril chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire National"), is in addition to the previously-announced list of annual non-working public holidays in the Benin for the calendar year 2016, as announced by the government of Benin, earlier this year (2016-02-24).

A year ago (2015-04-19), the government of Benin had declared Monday, April 20, 2015, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Bénin, to give voters more time to get their voter registration cards, though it later ruled-out the declaration of Friday, March 4, 2016, as a non-working public holiday in Bénin on account of the Presidential elections (2016-03-03 and 2016-03-02).
