The government of Botswana has announced on its Twitter account that Friday, September 29, 2016, would be a non-working public holiday in Botswana, contrary to the previously announced list of 2016 non-working public holidays in Botswana ("29th September Declared A Holiday. Thurs 29th and 30th Sept declared public holidays. Monday 3rd October NOT a holiday #BOT50 #UnitedAndProud").
The aforementioned announcement of Friday, September 29, 2016, being declared a non-working public holiday in Botswana, thus amends the list of official non-working public holidays in Botswana for the calendar year 2016, which was announced, late last year (2015-12-27).
Such one-off declaration of public holidays in Botswana are rather rare, and are usually limited to electoral occasions (2014-10-16, 2014-08-07 and 2009-09-07).
