The Government of Fiji has issued a reminder of the previously-announced Wednesday, September 7, 2016, annual non-working public holiday in Fiji on account of the upcoming first observance of Fiji's newest non-working public holiday, Constitution Day.

The aforementioned announcement that Wednesday, September 7, 2016, was annual non-working public holiday in Fiji on account of the upcoming first observance of Fiji's newest non-working public holiday, Constitution Day, is in line with the previously-announced (2015-09-22) and gazetted (2015-10-21) then amended (2016-01-18) list of the official non-working public holidays in Fiji for the calendar year 2016.

Recall that, a year ago (2015-08-24), Fiji's Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, had moved the "Employment Relations Amendment Bill 2015, a Bill for an act to amend the Employment Relations Promulgation 2007" for urgent consideration by Parliament, with a view to enshrine another new annual non-working public holiday in Fiji, Constitution Day, a new annual non-working public holiday in Fiji, is to be observed every year, from 2016, on September 7.
