The Bank of Greece, Greece's Central Bank, has released its annual list of the official non-working public holidays and bank holidays in Greece for the calendar year 2017.

As per custom (2015-07-05, 2014-06-26, 2013-06-23, 2013-04-23, 2012-07-28, 2011-07-25, 2010-06-25, 2009-06-30 and 2008-07-21), the aforementioned list of official Greek bank holidays and non-working public holidays in Greece for the calendar year 2017, omits public holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday, and which are not compensated under Greek labour law.

In addition, the aforementioned announcement specifies that "tthe observance of Monday, May 1st, 2017 as a holiday by the Bank of Greece will be subject to a decision by the Minister of Labour, Social Security and Social Solidarity declaring the said date a public holiday", this not being a pure formality, as the Greek government has, on past occasions (2016-03-29 and 2013-04-24).
