The government of Guyana's Minister Of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan, has announced that the government of Guyana had gazetted Saturday, October 29, 2016, as the date of the upcoming Deepavali non-working public holiday in Guyana.
Note that Guyana usually uses the Southern Indian Deepavali calculation method to determine the date of the Deepavali non-working public holiday, as do most of the world's countries in which Deepavali is an official non-working public holiday, but apparently this year, for the second year in a row (2015-10-19 and 2014-11-07) the initially released list of non-working 2016 public holidays in Guyana had a date for Deepavali based on the northern Indian calculation method, on Asvina Amavasya during extended Pradosha (2015-11-22).
