The Office of Communication of the Presidency of Haiti and the Ministry of Communication of Haiti have announced that Haiti's President has once again issued an Executive Order declaring Thursday, May 26, 2016, as an additional one-off non-working public holiday throughout Haiti to coincide with this year's "Corpus Christi" holiday.
Today's announcement that Haiti's President had issued an Executive Order declaring Thursday, May 26, 2016, as a public holiday throughout Haiti ("les bureaux administratifs, les écoles, le commerce et l'industrie chômeront, le jeudi 26 mai 2016, sur tout le territoire national"), represents the fourth year in a row (03-Jun-2015, 17-Jun-2014 and 28-May-2013) that the Presidency of Haiti declares a one-off non-working public holiday in Haiti for Corpus Christi, after ruling it out, the year before (16-May-2012).
As per Haiti's current public holidays legislation (16-Jun-2003) Haiti's President has the ability to turn some of the working holidays of Haiti (jours fériés non chômés) into non-working holidays in Haiti (jours fériés chômés).
