The Consejería de Industria, Innovación y Empleo of Spain's Autonomous Region of La Rioja, through its spokesperson, Begoña Martínez Arregui, has announced its annual list of regional public holidays in La Rioja for the upcoming calendar year 2017 ("días inhábiles a efectos laborales, de carácter retribuido y no recuperable, del calendario del próximo año").

For 2017, and for the 5th year (2015-08-30, 2014-08-01, 2013-09-08 and 2012-08-03), the Autonomous Region of La Rioja has decided to switch the regional public holiday of March 19 (San José), which it observed 4 years in a row (2011-06-11, 2010-08-28, 2009-08-13 and 2008-08-02), for the June 9 (Día de La Rioja), which falls 2 days away from San Bernabé, a date which is often declared as municipal non-working public holiday in the capital of Spain's Autonomous Region of La Rioja.
