The President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has decided to extend the upcoming Independence Day annual public holidays in the Maldives and link it to the following weekend by declaring additional non-working public holidays in the Maldives on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
As per the text of the aforementioned announcement, "government offices will resume work on July 31", the previously-announced (2016-01-04) list of 2016 public holidays in the Maldives has thus been amended.
