The Federal Government of Pakistan has once again amended the dates for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays throughout Pakistan for the calendar year 2016, by expanding these annual Pakistani public holidays to last 6 days.

As per the aforementioned announcement by the Pakistani Interior Minister the upcoming 2016 Eid-ul-Fitr public holidays in Pakistan, will run from July 5 to 10, 2016, which is longer than what was announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2016" published by the Government of Pakistan at the beginning of the current year (2016-02-01).

As happened in some past years (2015-07-07, 2015-01-12, 2013-07-31 and 2012-08-09), but not all (2011-08-25 and 2010-09-05), the Government of Pakistan thus extended the duration of the upcoming 2016 Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays in Pakistan for "government and private companies employees".

Note, however, that due to the annual July 1st mid-year bank holiday, the State Bank of Pakistan issued a circular, ordering all branches of commercial banks in Pakistan to remain open on Saturday, July 2, and Saturday, July 9, 2016.
