A spokesperson for Panama's Presidency has announced that both Monday, December 26, 2016, and Monday, January 2, 2017, would be day in lieu non-working public holidays in Panama, on account of Christmas 2016 and New Year's Day 2017 falling on a Sunday.
As per the aforementioned spokesperson for Panama's Presidency, Monday, December 26, 2016, and Monday, January 2, 2017, will be day in lieu non-working public holidays in Panama for both the private and public sectors ("en virtud del artículo 47 del Código de Trabajo y por ser domingo 25 de diciembre y domingo 1 de enero de 2017, días de fiesta nacional; el descanso pasa al 26 de diciembre y 2 de enero de 2017 para el sector público y empresas privadas.") in line with the annual list of bank holidays and public holidays in Panama for the calendar year 2016 which was released at the beginning of this year (2016-01-04).
