A bill has been introduced in Romania's upper house of parliament (Senatului României) which would add a new, June 1st, annual non-working public holiday in Romania, as well as bank holiday in Romania, to mark International Children's Day.
Although the Romanian media regularly announces that new non-working public holidays have been declared in Romania (2016-01-04 and 2015-04-23), in fact most of these are national working holidays, and the last time a new non-working public holiday was declared in Romania was 4 years ago (2012-06-27 and 2012-05-22), when Saint Andrew was declared as a new annual, November 30, non-working public holiday in Romania.
