The executive of Spain's Basque autonomous region (País Vasco) has approved the recently-released draft of its annual calendar of official regional public holidays and bank holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2017 in Spain's Basque region (calendario oficial de fiestas laborales de la Comunidad Autónoma Vasca).

Last month (2016-04-19), the executive of Spain's Basque autonomous region (País Vasco) had released a draft of its annual calendar of official regional public holidays ("calendario laboral") and bank holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2017 in Spain's Basque region, which was approved yesterday.

After a couple of years of heated debate (2013-12-12, 2013-12-03, 2013-11-15, 2013-10-30, 2013-06-08 and 2013-05-26) around the October 25, Basque regional public holiday, added 6 years ago (2010-04-23), the executive of Spain's autonomous region of the País Vasco, and last year's (2015-07-01), one-off regional public holiday on October 7, 2016, the 80th anniversary of the first Basque government in Gernika, while also declaring July 25 as a Basque regional public holiday in 2016, taking advantage of the fact that the semi-annual March 19, San José, public holiday would fall on a weekend in 2016, in 2017, March 19 will also fall on a weekend, and not surprisingly, the aforementioned calendar of official regional public holidays ("calendario laboral") and bank holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2017 in Spain's Basque region includes the "safe" choices of Easter Monday and Santiago Apostol, on July 25.
