The Directorate General of Personnel Administration has released its official annual calendar of official non-working public holidays in Taiwan for the upcoming calendar year 2017.
Contrary to what happened for the past 2 years (2015-10-15 and 2014-06-12), for the list of 2016 and 2015 public holidays in Taiwan, the aforementioned announcement of the official annual calendar of official non-working public holidays in Taiwan for the upcoming calendar year 2017, yet to be officialized, was released many months before the deadline due to regulations adopted in March 2013, which obligate the Directorate General of Personnel Administration to make public the national holiday calendar for following year before June 1st of the previous year (2013-05-31).
Despite a frenzy of discussions about rolling back national holidays in Taiwan (2016-04-10 and 2016-03-29), the aforementioned calendar of official non-working public holidays in Taiwan for the upcoming calendar year 2017, is still in line with the extension of Taiwanese non-working public holidays announced by the Cabinet of the Government of Taiwan (the Executive Yuan), for the calendar year 2015, and then made permanent, which adds bridge public holidays to the public holidays law in Taiwan (2014-10-21).
