The parliament of Timor Leste has passed the Law n. 3/2016, to "recognize key historical dates of the Timorese Struggle for National Liberation", and in the process declaring a new annual non-working public holiday in Timor Leste on March 3 of every year.

The aforementioned addition of Veterans Day, on March 3, as a new annual non-working public holiday in Timor Leste, thus amends the current public holidays legislation of Timor Leste, the Law n. 10/2005, passed over a decade ago (2005-08-12)
