Tonga's Prime Minister's Office has issued a communiqué announcing that the Tongan Cabinet had declared Wednesday, June 22, 2016, as another one-off official non-working public holiday in Tonga to mark the 150th Anniversary of Tupou College.
As per the aforementioned announcement, "the Prime Minister's Office is pleased to announce to the public and the people of Tonga that the Cabinet has approved that Wednesday 22nd of June 2016 be declared a Special Public Holiday to the entirety of the Kingdom of Tonga" and "This special public holiday is a one-off, and it is in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of Tupou College, the first secondary school to the established in Tonga and to reach 150 years".
The declaration of Wednesday, June 22, 2016, as another one-off official non-working public holiday in Tonga to mark the 150th Anniversary of Tupou College, is in addition to Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications communiqué announcing the official list of non-working public holidays in Tonga for the calendar year 2016, announced late last year (2015-11-12), and with the terms of the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which amended the public holidays legislation of Tonga (2010-05-19 and 2010-04-08).
