The UAE's Minister of Labour, and the UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, have each in turn, announced the dates of the upcoming annual Martyrs' Day and National Day non-working public holidays in the UAE, for the private sector and the public sector, as running from Thursday, December 1, until Saturday, December 3, 2016, inclusively.
Recall that, last year (2015-08-19), the UAE's President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, gave orders for a new annual non-working public holiday in the UAE to be added to the list of annual non-working public holidays in the UAE on November 30th, to commemorate "Martyrs' Day".
In conjunction with the fact that, as per the UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, "if a public holiday falls between two weekdays it can be moved to the beginning or end of that week", and that the UAE weekend was changed, a decade ago (2006-08-15 and 2006-05-31), to Fridays and Saturdays, this afforded some moving around of the new annual, November 30, public holiday in the UAE, to create a long weekend in the UAE, as was done last year (2015-11-02 and 2015-10-26).
