The UAE's Federal Authority for Human Resources has issued a circular stating that the upcoming annual public sector holiday in the UAE for the Milad Al Nabi (Prophet's Birthday) had been declared for Sunday, December 11, 2016.
In a separate announcement, the UAE's Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash, also announced that the annual non-working public holiday in the UAE for the upcoming Milad Al Nabi (Prophet's Birthday) would also be observed on Sunday, December 11, 2016, for the UAE's private sector.
In the past (2015-12-13, 2014-01-05 and 2011-02-07), possibly due to the Prophet's Birthday public holiday being considered less religious (even sacrilegious, in some Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia), the UAE had often moved the date of the UAE's Prophet's Birthday public holiday around to adjoin a nearby weekend, though it was not necessary to do so, this time, as the Cabinet decree No.21/2006 (2006-05-31) changed the weekend days in the UAE to Fridays and Saturdays instead, as of Friday September 1st, 2006.
