The Governor of the US Virgin Islands, Kenneth Mapp, has once again declared one-off additional public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands to be observed as public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands on the occasion of Christmas 2016 and New Year 2017.

The aforementioned declaration of 4 one-off additional public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands to be observed as public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands, is in addition to the list of of non-working public holidays in the US Virgin Islands for the calendar year 2016, as released by then Governor, John P. de Jongh, Jr., late last year (2015-11-30).

The announcement of additional public sector holidays is a staple of the US Virgin Islands' calendar of non-working public holidays (2016-11-18, 2015-04-25, 2014-12-22, 2011-12-20, 2010-12-28, 2006-12-21, 2005-12-06, 2004-12-22, 2003-12-17, and 2002-12-16), though such declarations of additional public holidays in the US Virgin Islands have become more rare in the past couple of years.
