Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has issued another decree extending the recently-implemented Fridays-Saturday-Sunday non-working public holidays weekends had been extended to run from Wednesdays to Sundays, for the Venezuelan public sector ("Miércoles, jueves y viernes no se laborará en el sector público a excepción de aquellas tareas que son fundamentales, que son necesarias").

Earlier this week (2016-04-26), Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has issued a decree extending the recently-implemented Fridays-Saturday-Sunday non-working public holidays weekends had been extended to run from Wednesdays to Sundays, for the Venezuelan public sector ("Miércoles, jueves y viernes no se laborará en el sector público a excepción de aquellas tareas que son fundamentales, que son necesarias"), the latest in a series of announcements of additional one-off non-working public holidays in Venezuela to combat its energy problems.

Recall that last month (2016-03-13), Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, declared the entire Holy Week, from March 19 until March 27, 2016, as non-working public holidays, initially only for the Venezuelan public sector, but this was extended to the private sector (2016-03-16), with the exception of the banking sector (2016-03-19), and later this month (2016-04-07), he issued a decree declaring all Fridays to come in April and May 2016, as non-working public sector holidays in Venezuela for the Venezuelan public sector, followed shortly (2016-04-14) by a one-off non-working public holiday for Venezuela's public sector on Monday, April 18, 2016.

The noteworthy aspect of the official publication of the Decreto 2.303 in the Gaceta Oficial is that it clarifies the extent of these 2-day workweeks, which, contrary to all the fanciful press clippings that have inundated the web this week, will only run until mid-May ("aplicado a partir del día miércoles 27 de abril de 2016, y hasta el viernes 13 de mayo de 2016").
