In a gazette notice the Kenyan Government's Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, has signed a notice announcing that, pursuant to section 3 of the Public Holidays Act of Kenya, the date of the annual non-working public holiday for the upcoming Idd-Ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) in Kenya would be Monday, June 26, 2017.
As per the aforementioned Gazette Notice ("It is notified for general information that Monday 26th June, 2017, will be observed as a public holiday to mark Eid-Ur-Fitr Day, pursuant to section 3 of the Public Holidays Act"), contrary to what happened 5 years ago (2012-08-13), but in line with what happened other years (2016-07-01, 2015-07-10, 2014-07-24, 2013-08-06, 2011-08-19, 2010-09-08 and 2009-09-11), Kenya has declared its 2017 End of Ramadan public holiday on a later date than many, though not all, other Muslim countries (2017-06-20 and 2017-06-19).
