Kenyan Public Holiday August 8

Kenya's Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, has announced that Tuesday, August 8, 2017 has been declared a public holiday in Kenya to coincide with the upcoming general elections.

A one-off public holiday was also declared on Monday, March 4, 2013, to coincide with the previous general elections in Kenya (2013-02-26).

On that occasion (2013-03-30), Tuesday, April 9, 2013, was also declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Kenya, in line with the Assumption of Office of The President Bill constitutional bill (2012-08-02), which mandates that an official non-working public holiday be declared in Kenya on the day of a presidential inauguration (2013-02-03 and 2012-06-08).
