The Prime Minister’s Office of the government of Laos has released its annual official list of non-working public holidays in Laos for the upcoming calendar year 2018.

In line with what often happened in past years (2012-04-05, 2012-01-17, 2009-04-10 and 2008-04-08), but not all (2016-12-19, 2015-12-18, 2014-12-10, 2013-12-27, 2013-01-28 and 2011-04-09), the aforementioned announcement extends the usual annual 3-day Pi Mai public holiday to compensate the fact that 2 of the dates of this public holiday falls on a weekend, as this is the case in 2018, though a later announcement further extending the duration of the Lao New Year public holidays in Laos is always possible (2017-03-22, 2016-03-31, 2015-04-06, 2013-04-08 and 2012-04-05).
