Both of Libya's Government factions have announced that Sunday, December 24, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Libya to mark Libya's 66th Independence Day.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the Libyan National Transitional Council overhaul of the official list of national non-working public holidays in Libya, announced a few years ago (2012-01-08) and the declaration the previous year (2011-10-23) by the Libyan National Transition Council, and subsequent annual announcements of public holidays in Libya (2017-01-16, 2016-01-03, 2014-12-22, and 2014-01-05)
