Nicaragua's Ministry of Labour (MITRAB), through its coordinator for the council of communications, Rosario Murillo, has announced that Wednesday, July 19, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday in Nicaragua, but that it would not be accompanied by additional public holidays, as had been hinted at recently, and had in fact happened in previous years.
In the past, a one-off, July 20, non-working public holiday had often been adjoined to the annual, July 19, public holiday of Nicaragua (2016-07-12, 2015-07-14, 2012-07-14, 2010-07-09 and 2009-07-15), though not systematically (2014-07-15 and 2013-07-13), and almost never for the private sector ("miércoles 20 como asueto con goce de salario para los trabajadores del sector público").
