Papua New Guinea 2018 Public Holidays Announced

The Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Michael Ogio, has released the annual gazetted official list of appointed non-working public holidays in Papua New Guinea for the upcoming calendar year 2018.

The aforementioned announcement of official Papua New Guinea public holidays for the calendar year 2018 is contained in the "PNG National Gazette", and as usual (2016-08-24, 2015-10-01, 2014-08-18, 2014-01-07, 2012-08-25, 2011-08-07, 2010-10-26, 2009-10-08, 2006-10-13, 2003-07-07 and 2000-08-15) announces day in lieu public holidays, if applicable.

For a 7th consecutive year, the aforementioned 2018 official list of Papua New Guinea non-working public holidays includes an annual non-working public holiday (2014-01-07, 2012-08-25, 2011-08-19 and 2012-08-21), the National Day of Repentance, to be observed annually on August 26.

Finally, as was the case for the past decade (2014-01-07, 2012-08-25, 2011-08-07, 2010-10-26, 2009-10-08, 2008-10-17, 2007-07-09, 2006-10-13 and 2005-10-01), the Remembrance Day public holiday is listed on July 23. It was moved from July 23 to April 25, ten years ago (2004-09-20), in a move that was meant to be permanent, but which was not well received.
